FAQs
If the latest handsets are so good at accessing the internet, surely our existing fixed line site is good enough?
A fixed line site is designed to be viewed on a large screen, with a keyboard and high speed connection. All Handy solutions are specifically designed to work on the screen size of whatever handset is being used, using keypad or touchscreen commands. Handy Group’s proprietary systems are configured and managed to deal with slow and broken connections whilst still providing an excellent user experience.
Will your services work on an iPhone?
All solutions provided by Handy Group work on all handsets including the Blackberry and iPhone. When Apple entered the handset market it set a new standard in how a user interacts with a mobile device. Handy Group makes the most of this new standard by detecting when an iPhone accesses the servers and delivers an application developed specifically for the Apple handset.
iPhone users can add a desktop shortcut to any Handy application by adding the site as a bookmark and choosing the 'Add to Home Screen' option.
Users will never buy my products from a mobile phone
Users with recent handsets are accessing the internet 100 times more frequently than those with older phones. If your customers are trying to use your fixed line site from a mobile they will have a poor user experience and will become frustrated with your company.
How does my customer find my mobile site?
Handy can provide the code necessary to detect when a mobile browser is trying to access your fixed line URL and will divert accordingly. Handy can also provide access to a short code with a key word ie Handy to 61177. We recommend that we incorporate in most applications a 'send to friend' facility to allow viral transfer from handset to handset.
How can a mobile website do everything a fixed line website can do?
In technical terms Handy can get a mobile site to do anything a fixed line site can. However usability and the user experience may provide limitations and part of the value that we provide is in working with our customers to define those business critical processes and create a world class but functional user interface.
Mobile sites can't transact though?
Handy solutions can be fully transactional from browse to book and pay. All payments are credit/debit card transactions, fully encrypted in secure sessions. Handy can either work with a customer's existing payment services provider or can provide a secure mobile payment gateway with a variety of payment options in conjunction with our payment partner.
What if a new device comes out, how do I know if our site will work on it?
All our solutions are based upon initial setup and a subscription service. The subscription is a package that covers licence fee, support, maintenance and updates. Therefore whenever a new handset is announced, a new operating system is released or greater connectivity is available, your solutions are updated to ensure they take full advantage of these developments. It doesn't cover functional enhancements or additions unless they are required in order for the site to function to the original specification on a new device.
What do I do with the mobile site once I have got it?
Handy Group has a number of packages that support the marketing of your shiny mobile application that can be tailored to an agreed budget. Handy Group recommend that creating a site is the first part of an overall strategy that encompasses the adoption of the mobile channel.
When will users adopt mobile and we can regard it as a serious distribution channel?
The fact that mobile can already access the internet and that the internet is already regarded as a 'serious' channel, it follows that mobile must be considered a serious distribution channel by all professional organisations. Adoption will increase along with the amount of 'serious' content. As an organisation that believes in enhancing the customer experience at all times, you do not want your customers accessing your fixed line site from a mobile handset unless it is specifically designed to work on that customers particular device - they will merely become frustrated and disappointed.
